Postdoctoral Positions in Synthetic Biology – Join the DIMERCIRCUITS Project funded by an ERC Advanced Grant starting in 2026.
My lab is looking for highly motivated postdoctoral researchers to join our lab at the Telethon Institute of Genetics and Medicine (TIGEM, Naples, Italy) and contribute to DIMERCIRCUITS, a groundbreaking ERC-funded project.
About the project
DIMERCIRCUITS pioneers a completely new approach to synthetic gene circuit engineering in mammalian cells. By engineering engineered transcription factors whose activity can be precisely controlled by homo- and hetero-dimerisation, we aim to build modular and compact synthetic circuits that can sense, process, and respond to cellular signals with unprecedented precision. This technology has the potential to transform gene therapy and cell therapy, enabling smarter, safer, and more effective treatments for currently untreatable genetic disorders.
Your profile
Applicants should hold a PhD in synthetic biology, engineering biology, molecular biology or a related discipline, with hands-on expertise in:
Advanced DNA cloning techniques and circuit assembly.
Engineering and functional testing in mammalian cells.
Transcriptional regulation and gene expression control.
Additional valuable skills:
Experience with animal models for gene therapy or synthetic biology applications.
Familiarity with quantitative modeling of gene circuits.
Familiarity with Zinc Finger engineering
What we offer
The opportunity to work on a ground breaking project at the frontier of synthetic biology.
A collaborative, international environment at the forefront of basic and translational research in rare genetic diseases combining molecular biology, computational modeling, and translational applications.
The chance to make a real impact in developing novel gene and cell therapies.
