Combining Molecular Biology, Computer Science and Biomedical Engineering to combat diseases

Our lab members come from different backgrounds including Biology, Biomedical and Automation Engineering, and Computer Science and rely on state-of-the-art instrumentation and microfluidics platforms to develop innovative technologies to observe, model and manipulate cell behaviour for biomedical and biotechnological applications.

Systems Biology

Our research aims at developing and applying experimental protocols and computational approaches to measure transcriptional responses of cells to perturbations to elucidate mechanisms of genetic diseases, and the mode of action of small molecules in order to identify therapeutic treatments.

Synthetic Biology

Synthetic Biology aims at rational engineering of living organisms. The overarching goal of the lab is to improve human well-being by engineering mammalian cells for biotechnological and biomedical applications. To do so, we are translating principles of control engineering to molecular and cell biology.  We rely on microfludics to investigate, model and control the dynamics of biocircutis in living cells, and on molecular cloning and CRISPR/Cas systems to engineer biological circuits.

The lab has coordinated the H2020 FET OPEN EU project "COSY-BIO" The COSY-BIO Project — Cosy-Bio
