How to kill matlab user's processes on Nirvana

once you log out from VNC service you should always check that your matlab sessions are really terminated

once you log out from VNC service you should always check that your matlab sessions are really terminated; this to avoid that other matlab users won't be able to use matlab on Nirvana.

here the steps to perform the check:

1- log on to Nirvana via a SSH client (e.g. putty) as matlab user

2- type the command top in the command line; you will get something like this:

    top_result

3- now hit "Ctrl+Z" on your keyboard and kill all the processes associated to the matlab user that are not associated to the command "top".

for instance in the image above only one session of the command "top" is associated to the user "matlab"; any other session regarding any other command (eg. vnc) should be killed in the following way:

type in the command line the following string: kill -9 [PID]

where PID is the number of the process that you find in the first column on the right when you get the "top" output (see image above).

for any other problem please ask to Gianfranco, Roberto and Francesco.

Please don't kill processes belonging to other users ;-)
